About

CTA hosts Project Incubator Workshops to help us move from good ideas to a regional pipeline of strong, funding-ready climate projects. Across our region, there’s a lot of great work happening—but often in parallel or in silos. These workshops are about strengthening coordination, identifying partners, and setting projects up for success. CTA will facilitate defining project scope, roles between partners, and identifying opportunities. Participants are invited to bring a project idea to the workshop, or attend without a project to support project development or join a project as a partner.

The goal of Project Incubator Workshops is to develop a pipeline of funding-ready projects led by CTA members that have:

  • Identified climate mitigation or adaptation solutions to community needs
  • Thorough project scopes
  • Diverse partners
  • Funding readiness (ability apply for funding and receive, allocate, and spend funding)

Workshop Format

Workshop attendees are expected to come prepared to these events.

  1. Bring a climate-related project idea that you are directly involved in (either as a project lead or partner), and be ready to collaborate and iterate on your project idea
  2. Bring a collaborative attitude and be ready to provide technical expertise or join a project as a key partner

Workshops are a short 2-hour time block.

Meeting agendas may be variable, but will generally follow this format:

15 minutesWelcome & Introduction
5 minutesSelect Your Sector Breakout Table
10 minutesSector Breakout Project Idea Roundtable (each attendee can share a 1-2 min project overview or sector expertise overview)
70 minutesProject Development Workshop (facilitated prompts)
20 minutesFull Workshop Share Out/Popcorn Updates

Project Eligibility

Project ideas brought to the workshop should help CTA meet its Vision of a carbon-neutral region by 2045. While projects do not need to show direct reductions in greenhouse gas emissions, they should build towards a more climate-resilient future for Truckee Tahoe.

Projects should be located, or partially located, within Truckee and North Lake Tahoe

Attendees are encouraged to bring projects that are:

  • Early planning stage
  • Pilot projects
  • Planning-focused (good climate projects don’t need to break ground!)
  • Implementation stage, but needs finishing touches

Projects are not required to have the following, but are welcome:

  • Final engineering, design, or construction drawings
  • Permits or environmental review
  • Pre-identified funding source
